India at the Olympics 2028

“The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.” - Jimmy Johnson

Champions never complain, they, are too busy getting better. - John Wooden

India has finished with 21 gold medal and on 4 spot in the recently concluded Asian Games 2026.

It was heartening to see India finish 4th after much of the time laundering out of the top 10.

India would take great pride to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028 after a very disappointing Tokyo Olympics.

I am sure all the players are raring to have a go at the Olympics.

India opened rooms for medal outside their traditional medal winning sport like wrestling, archery and boxing .India disappointed in its major medal winning sport of shooting and athletics. One may even add badminton to the list. Golf was a pleasant surprise. It is also refreshing to note that as always, women outshined men.

If India want to make it to the big stage at the Olympics it will have to practice with relentless focus with world class opposition and conditions similar to that of Olympics.

This is very important because though we have made tremendous progress with aligning foreign coaches and modern equipments from the current government (TOPS), things will materialize to medals only if we are put up against world class opponents and in those conditions. It would give us an idea where we stand and spur us to bring the best in us.

This brings me to the question of the state of football. It's so disheartening to see that we languish at 138th position in the world rankings.

I think there isn't any shortage of money or grass root talent (as being made out to be). We should be playing world class opponents in conditions more relentlessly making us progress faster and with perfection.

Hope and pray for an exhilarating Olympics at Los Angeles 2028.
